Bordharan is a magnificent dam in Wardha District. It is beautiful water reservoir surrounded by Satpuda hills and famous for its scenic beauty and the jungle around it. Bor is a superb destination to explore nature, landscape, wildlife and rural culture. The Bor Wild Life Sanctuary covers an area of about 121 square km. Bor Wildlife Sanctuary acts as a corridor between Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and Pench Tiger Reserve. With rich flora and fauna of Satpura – Maikal Landscape, Bor Tiger Reserve is home to a wide variety of wild animals and birds. Variety of wild inmates such as the Tiger, Indian leopard, deer, monkey, wild boar, sloth bear, chital, sambar, Indian bison, blue bull, peacock and many bird species are abundant here.
Formed by the Bor dam (a key feature of the Bor river project), this reservoir is a great picnic spot – and a showcase for a wide spectrum of wildlife, including sambhar, cheetal, barking deer, nilgai, tigers, leopards, and wild dogs. This place has a beautiful water reservoir surrounded by hills and beautiful landscape.
It is about 80 Kms from Nagpur situated in Wardha district. It takes about 1 hour 30 Minutes from Nagpur. The nearest railway station is Wardha about 35 Kms away. You have to take Wardha Road (Major State Highway 3). Drive straight till Seloo which is about 65 Kms. You will find a small board for the right turn for Bordharan. The roads from Seloo to Bordharan are single roads of villages and you will enjoy the ride seeing the village lifestyle and their culture.
If you are more religious, you can stop at Kelzar just before Seloo. There is a beautiful temple of Ganpati at Kelzar.
I visited this place on the occasion of republic day, as it was my post admission day and It was a holiday so we got free earlier than daily routine and work was not that much , so I planned to go there as told by my collegue in anesthesia. He told to visit the place once , as I loved to travel solo with my beautiful bike.
It was almost 75-80 km from my college. I went there but the beautiful part is the route which i took to reach there. it was from middle of BOR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY where the sign boards says the Tiger or bear crossings. And i be like ‘CHALO AAJ DEKH HE LETE HAI INKO BHI’ but deep down I was excited , and afraid to see the animals. But my luck was bad or good i don’t know , i didn’t find any of them.
It was a nice tour for me ….
